Financing of studies

Cost of studies

Students pay a semester contribution composed of a student services contribution, the AStA contribution, semester ticket and an administrative lump sum. No study fees have to be paid.

The semester contribution currently amounts to EUR 322.70.
Proof of payment of the semester contribution has to be presented at the time of enrolment for the respective semester.

Application for BAföG

Students of this Masters degree course are entitled to apply for funds on the basis of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG). The applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • the initial course of studies must have been a Bachelors degree course,
  • as a rule the applicant may not be older than 35 at the time when he/she begins his/her studies (exceptions: he/she was only able to begin his/her initial studies at a later time for certain reasons, he/she acquired the higher education entrance qualification in evening classes, or similar). It is definitely worth enquiring about funding at the BAföG office.

The Masters degree course does not necessarily have to follow the Bachelors course immediately. Periods of professional work, for example, may lie between the two courses of studies. For queries relating to BAföG, please contact Studentenwerk Dresden /  the Training Assistance Office.

Scholarships

Apart from BAföG, a scholarship is another way of financing a course of studies. For an overview and guidance offers, please consult the website of Studentenwerks Dresden.
